Vatshwa (Twa/ Thwa) refers to the first people to see the rising sun.
They are indigenous devotees of the divine source of life (eNton’wini), the Sun. Over the years, they evolved to become what we know today as Badzonga, Balenge, Baronga, Batonga, and Vatsonga. Thus, they are called Ba xa ni dyambu — people of dawn — the early easterners.
