Valambya (Lambwa/ Nambya) refers to river people of the mainland.
They are organised hunters of the lion totem, living along flowing streams where prey is plentiful. True to their totem, they boldly mark the path to their water territory with human waste, leaving their sign for all who dare to pass. Thus, they are called Ba ngove va nambo — people who control the river — the wild cats of the valley.
