Bahlengwe.
Did you know that:
Vahlengwe refers to nobles of the Batshwa people, easterners.
They originate from eNsongeni wa Vukosi (King’s Bay), the capital of the ancient Nyaka Kingdom, known today as Kosi Bay (in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa). The Tembe empire then conquered the east coast and renamed it Maputsu (Maputo). As a result, the people of Cawuke migrate north by the Sabie River to establish a new Kingdom called Hlengweni (land of prosperity). By the 1800s they had the largest population, land mass, and resources in the Great East (eVutsonga). Thus, they are called Ba hlengi va mfumu — people who collect wealth — the power gatherers.
